Residential fuel is a fuel such as dyed diesel or kerosene that is used to heat older style homes as well as generators.

For residential heating we offer a nine month budget plan.

The nine month budget plan is for customers who like the convience of knowing month to month the amount of their heating bill. This plan simply allows you to equalize your payments for the nine month period. The nine month budget plan begins in August and ends in April.

In order to be approved for the budget plan, you must currently have or apply for an account with Benton Oil Service, and have approved credit from our credit department. If you believe you meet these requirements or would like to check the eligibility of your account, please feel free to contact Freda Benton with our AR department.

Once you are on the budget plan, you will receive a blue card in the mail between June and July that allows you to continye on the budget plan, or opt out of the plan. The blue card also gives budget customers two other options, automatic fill and summer delivery. Automatic fill is an option that allows Benton Oil to create a degree day sysytem, keeping record of your fuel usage. We then make automatic deliveries based upon your usage history, to insure you never run out of heating oil. Summer fill is an option that you select if you would like for Benton Oil to come out during the summer and fill your tank. This insures that when cold weather does arrive you will have a full tank of heating oil.

*It should be noted that once a budget season has begun, a customer can not select the budget plan until the next budget season

Bio Diesel

Benton Oil Service was the first fuel distributor in the Chattanooga area to offer bio diesel to the public.

 

Bio diesel is a clean burning alternative fuel that is produced from domestic renewable sources. Bio diesel contains no petroleum, but can be blended at any level with petroleum diesel to create a bio diesel blend; such as B10 (90% petroleum diesel and 10% bio diesel) or B20 (80% petroleum diesel and 20% bio diesel). The B10 and B20 blends are two of the most popular bio diesel blends.

 

Bio diesel is simple to use, biogegradeable, nontoxic alternative fuel, and is essentially free of sulfur and aromatics. Bio diesel can be used in compression ignition diesel engines with no major modifications.

 

Bio diesel is registered as a fuel and fuel additive with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

 

Being the first in the Chattanooga area to provide Biodiesel is an accomplishment of which we, at Benton Oil, are very proud. We are also proud to announce that we were awarded in the Mayor's Clean Fuels Award for making bio diesel readily available in the Chattanooga area.

Ethanol

Benton Oil Service was not only the first to offer ethnaol to the Chattanooga area, but also the largest ehtanol provider in the south east.

 

Ethanol is a fuel additive that is made from corn, chicken fat, soy beans, sugar cane and other agricultural prodcuts. Ethanol is a clean burning additive that is renewable. Ethanol can not travel through pipelines with gasoline because doing so ethanol would pick up escess water and impurities; therefore ehtanol must be transported using truck, train cars, or barges and then transloaded. Transloading is the process in which the material is moved form the original shipement container over into a tanker truck for delivery. Transloading is something that Benton Oil does in partnership with Norfolk Southern Railroad.

 

Ethanol was mandated by Congress as a way of reducing oil imports and providing increased support for agriculture. By mandating ethanol the cost of gasoline at the pumps has been kept considerably lower than if not blended with ethanol.

 

Most vehicles on the road today can run on an E10 blend that is 90% gasoline and 10% ehtanol, newer vehicles can run on E85 blend that is 15% gasoline and 85% ethanol. Please check your car before filling with E85. By 2014, Congress is looking for all fuel purchased to be sold as an E10 blend.

 

Ethanol is not only beneficial to the environment, but also to the consumer for keeping the price of gas down and adding support of local agriculture. Here at Benton Oil we are pleased to support agriculture, be eco-friendly as well as keeping the price of gasoline down for our customers.
